Hyderabad temperature falls by 10ºC


The state is experiencing severe cold wave conditions. Within a week, the minimum temperature has fallen by 10ºC in the city. The season’s lowest temperature, 8.3ºC, was recorded on January 14. Ramagundam, in Karimnagar district, recorded the lowest temperature in 50 years on Sunday at 7ºC.
“The normal temperature is 15 to 16ºC. In the last week, it has dropped by five to nine degrees below normal. Severe cold wave conditions are prevailing in Adilabad, Anantapur, Karimnagar, Kadapa, Medak and Srikakulam, while cold air is blowing over other parts,” said assistant Met official Mr R.V. Subba Rao.
Cold wave claims 8 lives across the state
Eight people succumbed to the severe cold wave in the state on Monday in separate incidents.
Unable to bear the chilly weather, Kunche Chinapalla Rao, 43, died in Dudalacheruvu village in Rajahmundry district. The cold wave also claimed the lives of Syyed Babu, 65, K. Venkaiah, 70, and K. Koteswara Rao, 60, in Gudipudi village of Guntur district. Meanwhile, Suryakantham, 70, Komuru Musili-yya, 90, E. Chanti Babu, 50, and O. Rajulu, 47, succumbed to the cold in Visakhapatnam.
