The partial lunar eclipse will be visible in parts of South India, particularly the East Coast, between 5.36 pm and 6.48 pm on June 4. It will however, be not visible in North India.

On June 4, the moon will pass directly behind the earth. According to a Nasa press release, a broad stretch of lunar terrain around the southern crater Tycho will fall under the shadow of earth, producing the first lunar eclipse of 2012.
At maximum eclipse, only 37 per cent of the moon’s surface will be in the dark. “The moon will pass through the dark-red core of earth’s shadow on June 4. Because only a fraction of the Strawberry Moon is shadowed, astronomers call this a partial eclipse. But it is totally beautiful,” the release added.
