14 lakh Aakash tablets booked in 14 days

India’s first attempt at low-cost computing, create a record in sales booking. The world’s cheapest tablet, Aakash sales bookings have soared to 14 lakh units in just two weeks after it was put for sale in online for Rs 2,500 a piece.
Manufacturer Datawind is feeling the pressure of this climbing popularity. Datawind Has decided to setup three new factories in India at Cochin, Noida and Hyderabad. Datawind presently has only one factory in Hyderabad.
Revealing more about their projected plan, Datawind CEO Suneet Singh Tuli was quoted as saying that we never expected such a high response from both corporate and individual buyers. We plan to supply 70,000 to 75,000 units per day once the factories in place by April.
